Note: This may be a spoiler as it has to do with Death foreshadowing something.

My question is:
How has your perception of Rudy changed since Death foreshadowed how he will die?

  1. I'm finished with this book but I remember that after I read about Rudy's "bomb-kissed lips", every scene with Rudy made me a little sad. Especially the scenes of anticipation of a potential relationship between Rudy and Liesel. It only made it harder to read after we knew that all of this preparation was going to abruptly end with a bomb.

  2. I feel a much bigger connection to Rudy knowing that he is going to die. I always kind of knew that something was going to happen to Rudy considering that he is such an important figure in the story, and considering Death narrates the story its no surprise that Rudy is going to die. I feel bad for Rudy, he is gifted runner and a good friend for Liesel even when he is taken by the Nazis for training shows how gifted he was.

  3. It didn't really change much for me. Everyone dies, so it wasn't that big of a shocker that he would die. Although the way he died wasn't ideal, I don't think it really reflected badly on him.
